Health Assessment changes
Bupa are slightly changing the way they are conducting assessments in line with the easing of Covid-19.
From the 15st July all assessments will be conducted in the following manner until further notice.
Before your appointment
Step one – Book Appointment
You can do this by phone or by calling your broker if receiving a discount and they will get you booked in.
Step two – Confirmation
You’ll receive a confirmation email with a link to a questionnaire. Please complete this before your appointment to limit the handling of paperwork in the centre.
Step three – Virtual Consultation
Your health professional will call you to start your consultation. This may last up to 40 minutes depending on the type of appointment you have. If you then decide to visit one of our health centres, they’ll also check if you have any symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19).
Step four – Symptom Checker
24 hours before your face-to-face appointment, you’ll be sent a COVID-19 symptom check email and text.
Attending your appointment
Step one – Arriving at the Health Centre
The door will be locked so please wait for the receptionist to greet you. They’ll request that you put a mask on and sanitise your hands. When ready, they’ll escort you to the front desk.
Step two – Checking In
One of our team will check if you have any COVID-19 symptoms and check your temperature. If you don’t have any symptoms, they’ll take you to meet your health professional.
Step three – Time with the team
You’ll be met by the health professional who’ll be carrying out your appointment wearing personal protective equipment (PPE). If you’re having a health assessment which includes doctor time, they’ll enter once the health adviser has left. They’ll examine you where required wearing PPE and confirm your medical action plan.
Step four – Checking Out
You’ll be shown back to reception where you’ll get to pick up any necessary referrals or prescriptions. If you haven’t already, this is when you’ll pay for your appointment. Payments are by card only.
Step five – Leaving the health centre
One of our team will walk you to the door and advise you on how to remove your PPE safely and place them in the bin provided. If you’d like to keep your mask on, please do. As you leave, you’ll have the opportunity to use our hand sanitiser too.
Please make sure you are happy in the way the assessment will work – if you have attended a health assessment previously you may have a different experience to what you have had before. All assessments will be done in these steps.
