Influenza – It’s that time of the year again.
05.08.2011
Influenza, or 'flu', is a highly contagious acute viral infection that affects people of all ages and this includes your workforce. It typically starts suddenly with fever, chills, headache, aching muscles, extreme fatigue and a cough or other breathing difficulties and is contagious.
While most people recover without complications in 1-2 weeks it can mean they will have time off work or, in some cases even worse, those who can will venture into the working environment and share the virus with their colleagues.
Flu epidemics occur mainly in the winter months and can result increased absenteeism and disruption to workplaces across the country.
However a vaccine is produced every year based on the strains of virus expected to be circulating each year.
Health Matters can arrange for a nurse to visit your different work locations and vaccinate your workforce against the current strain of the flu virus.
