Ensuring quality healthcare for BUPA members
An update to hospital list from BUPA to members
Following enforcement action by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) about standards at a number of hospitals, we are removing these hospitals from our recognised hospitals list with immediate effect, until we have evidence to confirm that the CQC are satisfied the issues have been addressed.
The hospitals, which we have removed, are:
- Basildon University Hospital, Essex
- Stoke Mandeville Hospital and Amersham Hospital, Buckinghamshire
- Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford, Essex
- Kettering Hospital, Northamptonshire
BMI Mount Alvernia Hospital is also derecognised for the time being, until we are completely satisfied that the issues identified by the CQC have been addressed. We hope that this will happen in the very near future.
I want to reassure you that patient welfare is always our first priority and we have stopped new pre-authorisations at these hospitals. We will be contacting the group secretaries of all groups affected to make them aware of the steps we have taken, and over the next few days we will be contacting any members who are booked in for treatment to discuss the options available to them. A copy of the group secretary email can be found on the right hand panel of the email.
Please see this Q&A document to help answer any questions you may have. If you have any further questions please contact us.
