Change to Bupa scales of cover
Bupa Press Release:
"We wanted to update you about a change to a relatively small number of our health insurance products for SME and corporate clients. These are products which offerA, B and Cscales of cover. We will be moving to one scale of cover for clients renewing on these schemes from 1 January 2014.
Over time, private hospitals have improved the accommodation that they offer patients. Almost all hospitals now provide single en-suite rooms as standard for in-patient care. Having reviewed our contracts with hospitals we have now decided to move to one scale of cover for hospital accommodation.
What does this mean for clients and employees?
From 1 January 2014, there will be one scale of cover for hospital accommodation for SME and corporate clients. This scale will provide cover for the cost of a single en-suite room. Clients and their employees will, of course, continue to have cover for treatment and care at all of the Bupa recognised facilities covered under their scheme and for more than 20,000 Bupa recognised consultants. All other benefits remain the same.
Premiums will continue to reflect the cost of hospital accommodation, claims experience and risk based elements such asage or excess. However, the move to one scale of cover for hospital accommodation will not contribute to an increase in overall 2014 premiums.
We are advising SME and corporate clients with scales of cover renewing from 1 January 2014 about this change and will continue to update clients as they approach renewal."
