BUPA Removes further BMI Hospitals from Recognised Hospital Lists

03.01.2012

BUPA and BMI Hospitals have failed to mutually agree the BMI charges for treating BUPA members from 1st January 2012. Subsequently BUPA have made the decision to remove further BMI hospitals from their Recognised Hospital lists with immediate effect.

According to BUPA, despite an assurance from BMI that they would send us their out-of-contract pricing by midday on Friday 16 December 2011, they did not do this. As it was so close to the expiry of the current contract BUPA needed to make a decision on which BMI hospitals would remain on BUPA's Recognised Hospital lists. This was to ensure BUPA members were not being charged unduly high rates for treatment at BMI hospitals. For this reason, BUPA had no realistic option but to remove all BMI hospitals from 1 January 2012 where they believe reasonable alternative arrangements can be made for our members.

BUPA and BMI continue their discussions and hope to be able to return their hospitals to their recognised hospital lists in the future. For a copy of the Hospital Changes Click Here
