BUPA Complete Health Assessment

BUPA's most popular assessment provides an in-depth profile of your health and wellbeing, and includes a 45-minute consultation with a BUPA doctor.

BUPA assess the health of your heart and lungs and carry out detailed blood analysis to test for conditions such as raised cholesterol, diabetes and gout. BUPA will check your hearing and vision and provide you with a detailed body composition profile. BUPA will also talk you through diet and lifestyle.

For men, BUPA will provide a testicular examination, and for women, a cervical smear test and a breast and pelvic examination. BUPA will inform you about potential health risks and instruct you on how to perform self-examinations. Whatever your concerns, there's no rush. You'll get plenty of time to discuss them with the doctor.

What the Assessment includes

Duration: Up to 2 hours

Time with doctor: Up to 45 minutes

Medical Tests

Understanding you

• Medical history and lifestyle questionnaire

• Physical examination and consultation with a doctor

Heart and lungs

• Cardiovascular risk score to check the risk of future heart disease
• Blood pressure and pulse measurement
• Carbon monoxide levels in the blood
• Resting ECG (electrocardiogram) - records any problems with the heart's rhythm
• Lung function test
• Lung age calculation
• Chest X-ray (only if necessary)

Body composition

• Height and weight measurements
• Body mass index (BMI) calculation
• Waist to height ratio measurement
• Body fat percentage
• Metabolic rate calculation

Blood and urine

• Detailed blood and urinalysis including: cholesterol profile, kidney and liver function

test, calcium levels, diabetes, anaemia and gout
• Blood in stool tests to check for bowel cancer (for over 45s)
• eGFR (detailed kidney function test)

Sensory

• Hearing tests
• Vision test

For women

• Breast check and awareness instructions
• Pelvic examination (only if clinically necessary)
• Cervical smear test (best administered mid-cycle)
• Check for HPV (human papilloma virus) if clinically necessary
• Mammogram* for women over 40 (if purchased by you or your employer)
• Rubella antibodies test for women under 40
• Thyroid function test for women over 50

For men

• Prostate cancer blood test for men over 50
• Testicular examination

Lifestyle

• Dietary assessment to give you a detailed analysis of the food you eat
• Diabetes risk score

* This depends on when you had your last mammogram.
